Even though you may be distanced, there are still plenty of ways to show mom just how much you love her.
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it seems like it’ll be spent a little differently this year. Just because we may not be able to see our moms in-person this year, we can still show them how much we appreciate all that they do. Join us in celebrating Mother’s Day with these gift ideas that are sure to make your mom smile.
Send her flowers. While this is the most obvious one, it’s still is a thoughtful gift to send to mom. Getting a fresh bouquet will boost her mood and make her smile. Personalize it even further by choosing her birth month flower for the arrangement. Flowers are a great way to express the sentiments you have for your mom.
Breakfast in bed. One of my favorite ways to spoil my mom on Mother’s Day is to cook her a big breakfast, filled with everything from pancakes to eggs and bacon. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to bust out my Masterchef cooking skills this year due to social distancing. That’s why I’m opting to have one of the many food delivery services (Postmates, UberEats, GrubHub, DoorDash, etc.) send my mom food from her favorite brunch place. Schedule a specific time to deliver the food to make sure she can pick it up and go right back to bed.
Show her your creativity skills. Now, this doesn’t have to be perfect—because moms will enjoy it either way—but hand-making a card to send her is a way to add your very own personal touch. It’ll even be nostalgic for you and her, going back to the days when you would only give hand-made cards (since you were forced to make them in class). Nonetheless, it’s a touching gesture and bonus points if you include a heartfelt letter.
Send a care package. Don’t you remember when your mom would send you a care package while you were off at college? Now, it’s your turn to send her one while she’s away. Bake her some tasty treats, add some skincare goodies, and put in some gift cards to her favorite stores (she can still shop online!). There are even shops that sell their own care packages, so you can spoil her even more. Check those out here.
Digital Photoframe. Now, this is definitely one of my favorites since it lets you share moments from a distance. Digital photo frames are exactly as they sound; it’s a “smart” frame in which you can upload photos from your phone or email so you can share pictures with your mom from afar. This gift keeps on giving and will be used all year long. It’s the perfect way to stay in touch and share special memories together.
